Palatine is a residential development in Shalesmoor. Built over two phases the scheme provides 101 apartments with a commercial unit.
The architectural approach responds to scale and character of neighbouring buildings. The building line is to the back edge of the footpath, clearly defining the site edge and reinforcing the tight urban grain, whilst the signature ‘ridged’ roofline reflects the hilly topography of Sheffield and creates a distinctive profile in the area.
The development includes a series of enclosed, landscaped courtyards which incorporate external corridors to access the apartments. The courtyards allow natural sunlight and fresh air to penetrate into the heart of the building and provides a level of amenity lacking in many residential schemes. Each apartment was designed to maximise space and light with large floor to ceiling windows and open plan layouts. The ceilings in top floor penthouses extend to the soffit of the pitched roofline creating large, voluminous spaces with extremely high levels of natural light.
