The construction of this scheme successfully repaired the urban grain in this area by occupying a plot which had been previously occupied by empty and dilapidated factory buildings for a number of years.
The massing of this urban perimeter block has been carefully configured to provide visual breaks in the building for external balconies, and to maximise sunlight into the internal courtyard. The design sits sympathetically within the conservation context and the material palette has been influenced by the immediate context and draws on the prominence of red brick in the area. The development provides a total of 33 high specification apartments and two ground floor commercial units which activate the street frontages.
